Rippey’s Triangle Jazz music store will literally fill the City Hall Council Chambers in Fox Lake, WI for May 18 – 20, 2012.  This special feature of the Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee is open to the public, whether or not they are attending the Jazz Jubilee.  The hours of the store will be Saturday, May 19th, 10:30 AM to 10:30 PM and Sunday, May 20th, noon to 5:00. On Friday, May 18th, Dick Rippey can be found along with a great selection of music first at Mullin’s Drive-In from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and then again for the evening at the American Legion Club House, 6:30 to 11:00 PM.

Triangle Jazz has been in business since 1947, providing music to music lovers of jazz. In a recent interview with Dick Rippey, he related that “my older brother, who actually was like a Dad to me, had started a business where music was the focus. The original stores presented all kinds of music and music education, even though Traditional Jazz was my brother’s passion.  In 1978, when he decided to sell out, he approached me and my other brother, Tom, and asked if we would be interested in carrying on the family business.”  Dick went on to say, “when Tom and I talked about it we decided that we would do it on one condition, that being we wanted to preserve the music.  We wanted to provide recorded music of Traditional Jazz, related music and Big Bands.  It was decided that Tom would take the West Coast, as he lived out there and I would concentrate on mid-America……Cleveland to Denver and North and South.”    At the present time Dick and his wife, Marcia, travel Mid-American setting up shop at jazz events held in Denver, Colorado;  Cleveland, Ohio; Lake of the Ozarks; Madison, LaCrosse, Racine and Fox Lake, Wisconsin.

Dick will be moving over 4000 CDs into the Community Center Council Chambers in Fox Lake. There will be some special features on Friday, May 18, 2012 when special music selections will be offered at Mullin’s Drive-In and the American Legion Club House.  At Mullin’s the music available for purchase will be Dixieland Jazz and Bunny Berigan recorded music.  Following the afternoon at Mullin’s, Dick will set up a selection at the American Legion Club House of all Piano…Ragtime,  Sweet Stride, etc. and Bunny Berigan recorded music. Of course all the music will be available on Saturday and Sunday at the Fox Lake Community Center.

Those shopping at Rippey’s Triangle Jazz will find that his prices are the same or cheaper than those in the regular music stores and he has recordings of all the favorites.  There will also be available all the CD’s of the performing bands and individual musicians at the 2012 Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee.  Dick is completely knowledgeable about jazz music and enjoys visiting with his customers. Rippey’s Triangle Jazz has the capability to take charge or debit cards and will even order special items if they are not included in the music store this year.  Music collectors, teachers, and lovers should take advantage of this opportunity to shop some the “best of jazz and jazz related recordings” available.
