City Hall Council Chambers in Triangle Jazz has been in business since
1947, providing music to music lovers of jazz. In a recent interview with Dick Rippey, he related that “my older brother, who actually was
like a Dad to me, had started a business where music was the focus. The
original stores presented all kinds of music and music education, even though
Traditional Jazz was my brother’s passion.
In 1978, when he decided to sell out, he approached me and my other
brother, Tom, and asked if we would be interested in carrying on the family
business.” Dick went on to say, “when
Tom and I talked about it we decided that we would do it on one condition, that
being we wanted to preserve the music.
We wanted to provide recorded music of Traditional Jazz, related music
and Big Bands. It was decided that Tom
would take the West Coast, as he lived out there and I would concentrate on
mid-America…… Dick
will be moving over 4000 CDs into the Community Center Council Chambers in Those shopping at Rippey’s
Triangle Jazz will find that his prices are the same or cheaper than those in
the regular music stores and he has recordings of all the favorites. There will also be available all the CD’s of
the performing bands and individual musicians at the 2012 Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee.
Dick is completely knowledgeable about jazz music and enjoys visiting
with his customers. Rippey’s Triangle Jazz has the
